Buy a 2026 Honda Accord Now or Wait for the 2027? Real Frisco Numbers

Should you buy a 2026 Honda Accord now or wait for the 2027? What's reported to change, Frisco out-the-door prices and payments for all six trims, and how to decide.

Key takeaways

  1. Reporting so far says the 2027 Accord is a carryover with a small price increase; the real redesign is expected for 2028 or later.
  2. There are 99 new 2026 Accords on the Frisco lot, starting around $30,984 out the door for an LX.
  3. Your interest rate moves the payment far more than the model year: at 9.99% an LX carries about $8,506 of interest over 60 months.
  4. Get preapproved, know your trade value and pick the right trim before worrying about the year.
  5. Waiting makes sense only if you want the next generation or plan to trade again within a few years.

For most people shopping in Frisco right now, buying a 2026 Accord is a reasonable move. Reporting so far says the 2027 Accord is basically the same car, and we have 99 2026 Accords on the lot today, starting around $30,984.10 out the door. Waiting makes the most sense if you want the next-generation Accord, and the best reporting I can find says that one is still a ways off.

A lot of people have asked me this over the past few weeks, so here's what I know, what I don't, and the numbers.

What's actually changing for 2027

Here's what's been reported so far:

  • Japan's 2027 Accord got small cosmetic updates, like body-color lower trim and some paint changes. Autoevolution called it "very short of a facelift."
  • The U.S. 2027 Accord is expected to carry over without changes, and Yahoo Autos expects a small price increase. No new engine and no new tech has been reported.
  • A true redesign could come for the 2028 model year, according to CarsDirect. Honda hasn't confirmed that.

When I wrote this, I hadn't seen Honda publish U.S. pricing or a feature list for the 2027 Accord. If that changes, I'll update this page. Until then, waiting for the 2027 most likely means waiting for the same car, possibly at a slightly higher price.

The 2026 Accord in Frisco today

These are our lowest listed lot prices right now. Out-the-door figures include Texas tax, title and fees. The payments assume 60 months at 9.99% APR with nothing down.

2026 Accord trimLowest lot priceAbout out the doorAbout per monthOn the lot
LX$28,722$30,984.10$65833
SE$30,772$33,164.15$70422
Sport Hybrid$33,827$36,412.95$7739
EX-L Hybrid$34,890$37,543.38$79814
Sport-L Hybrid$35,601$38,299.48$81412
Touring Hybrid$38,271$41,138.86$8749

With 99 cars across six trims, you can pick the color and trim you actually want. You don't have to settle for whatever is left. You can see the full breakdown on the Accord price guide, and the tax and fee math is on the Texas tax, title and fees page.

One thing to know: 9.99% is what I show until credit is run. These are estimates, not offers of credit. Your actual rate could be lower or higher.

Your interest rate matters more than the model year

I think this part matters more than the 2026-vs-2027 question.

At 9.99% over 60 months, each $1,000 you finance adds about $21 a month. On an LX at $30,984.10 out the door, you'd pay roughly $8,506 in interest over five years at that rate. A small price increase on a 2027 would change your payment by a few dollars. A better rate, a bigger down payment or a fair trade-in value changes it by a lot more.

So if you want the best long-term deal, put your energy into:

  1. Getting preapproved at your bank or credit union so you have a rate to compare.
  2. Knowing your trade's value before you come in.
  3. Picking the right trim so you're not paying for things you won't use.

Picking a trim: what each step up costs

Using the Frisco numbers above:

  • LX to SE: about $2,180 more out the door, or $46 a month.
  • SE to Sport Hybrid: about $3,249 more, or $69 a month. This is the jump from gas to hybrid. If you drive a lot, that's the step to look at most carefully.
  • Sport Hybrid to EX-L Hybrid: about $1,130 more, or $25 a month.
  • EX-L Hybrid to Sport-L Hybrid: about $756 more, or $16 a month.
  • Sport-L Hybrid to Touring Hybrid: about $2,839 more, or $60 a month.

If you're torn between two trims, drive both back to back. Ten minutes in each usually settles it faster than reading spec sheets.

When waiting does make sense

Here's when I'd tell you to wait:

  • You want the next-generation Accord. If a redesign is what you're after, reporting points to 2028 or later, not the 2027.
  • You plan to sell or trade in only a few years. A car bought in late 2026 will be one model year older when you trade it than a 2027 bought a few months later. If you keep cars eight or ten years, that matters much less.
  • Your current car is fine and you're not in a hurry. Then take your time. I'd rather you buy the right car than buy fast.

If you're cross-shopping a Camry

Using published base-trim figures, the 2026 Accord LX starts at a $28,395 MSRP, compared with $29,700 for the 2027 Camry LE FWD. The Accord LX also has more cargo room behind the rear seats (16.7 vs. 15.1 cu ft) and more passenger volume (105.7 vs. 99.9 cu ft). Both are good cars. Those are just the areas where the Accord comes out ahead on paper.

One quick recall check

Honda has a multi-model recall for the tire repair kit, and the Honda recall report lists some 2026 Accord Hybrids. Honda also re-recalled a small group of vehicles after some got the wrong replacement part. Before you sign, ask for the VIN and run it through NHTSA's recall lookup. I'm glad to do that with you.

The bottom line

If a 2026 Accord fits your budget and needs today, there's little reported reason to wait for the 2027. Start with a monthly number you're comfortable with on the payment estimator. If you'd like to come drive one, I'm happy to set it up. Just know that an invitation to come in is not an agreement, and only a signed buyer's order sets a price.

Questions people ask

Is the 2027 Honda Accord different from the 2026?

Reporting so far says the U.S. 2027 Accord carries over with essentially no changes, and a small price increase is expected. Japan's 2027 model got only minor cosmetic updates. A full redesign has been reported as possible for the 2028 model year, but Honda hasn't confirmed it.

How much is a 2026 Honda Accord out the door in Frisco, Texas?

Right now at David McDavid Honda of Frisco, a 2026 Accord LX starts at a lowest listed lot price of $28,722, which comes to about $30,984.10 out the door with Texas tax, title and fees. That's about $658 a month for 60 months at 9.99% APR with nothing down. This is an estimate, not an offer of credit. Only a signed buyer's order sets a price.

Should I wait for the 2027 Accord to get a better deal?

Usually no. Since the 2027 is reported as a carryover, your interest rate, down payment and trade-in value will affect your total cost far more than the model year. At 9.99% over 60 months, each $1,000 you finance adds about $21 a month. Waiting makes more sense if you want the next-generation redesign or you plan to trade the car in within a few years.
